Vegetation Management. SCE will be clearing weeds and flammable debris away from the base of SCE poles on the eastern side of the Santa Monica Mountains in the Calabasas area, then moving south and west. SCE states that the amount of debris removed should be minimal. This work will be done by Brown’s Construction technicians who will also be making property owner notifications. They have apparently acquired all appropriate permits and their environmental review is ongoing. SCE says that generally this work moves very quickly and does not cause customer issues or complaints. However, if you see an issue arise, contact Matthew Saddler, Operations Manager, Matthew.Saddler@sce.com; or (805) 368-7771 for immediate concerns. Following the work, internal SCE personnel and the LA County Fire Department will be conducting joint inspections in the area to verify compliance. SCE has made a change to the vendor who will be performing their tree trimming work in the Santa Monica Mountains. Mowbrays Tree Service will no longer work for SCE in this area. They have been replaced by Utility Tree Service. The timeline and locations for tree trimming work to resume is still TBD. (Source: Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation, lvhf.org)
