Undergrounding in Town Center to Begins
Southern California Edison (SCE), has announced that undergrounding work to make improvements to the electrical grid in Topanga’s business center, is scheduled to begin on September 10, and completed in approximately two months.
Some of the work will be done during the daytime but mostly at night. Be advised these dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors or inclement weather. Work hours may also vary based on permit conditions.
SCE’s approved contractors, Hamton Tedder Electric, and Tidwell Construction, will be replacing several old distribution poles and removing a number of distribution poles and sections of the overhead electrical wires and equipment within the project limits. Overhead poles and wires will be replaced with underground facilities.
SCE will also be replacing the two existing streetlights that are located at the intersection of Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Old Topanga Canyon Road with new streetlights.
In the press release, SCE writes: “Even during this unprecedented COVID-19 situation, we do not take the decision to proceed lightly and appreciate your patience. Due to the nature of the work, crew members are sometimes unable to maintain physical distancing to minimize exposure with other workers while working together as a pod. If you see our crew members, please do not approach them and stay at least six feet away for safety. If crew members need to get in touch with you, they will call you or knock on your door. Please be assured that the safety of our workers, our customers and the public remain our top priority.
“Thank you for your patience as we complete these upgrades to undergound facilities.â€
