Golden Eagles or Hawks?
Bill Krovetz sent us this photo of what he thinks is a pair of golden eagles that he and his wife spied while sitting in their backyard. “They were two rather large birds in the tree about 150-200 feet away,” Krovetz wrote. “We observed them with binoculars and luckily they stayed in place while I grabbed a camera, handheld, and used 600 mm on my lens. It’s not as clear as it could have been. Still, I’m very pleased with the photos.”

The question going around at the Chronicle as well as on Nextdoor Topanga, is whether it is a golden eagle or a redtail hawk.
