Golden Eagles or Hawks?

Bill Krovetz sent us this photo of what he thinks is a pair of golden eagles that he and his wife spied while sitting in their backyard. “They were two rather large birds in the tree about 150-200 feet away,� Krovetz wrote. “We observed them with binoculars and luckily they stayed in place while I grabbed a camera, handheld, and used 600 mm on my lens. It’s not as clear as it could have been. Still, I’m very pleased with the photos.�  

The question going around at the Chronicle as well as on Nextdoor Topanga, is whether it is a golden eagle or a redtail hawk.
