National Day of Protest and Civil Outrage at Topanga Post Office
Friday, August 21, marked a nationwide protest, organized by MoveOn, to support mass civil outrage of federal government plans to defund the USPS before the November 3 election.
At 11 a.m., MoveOn organizers and Topanga residents, Patti McDermott and Gwen Dordict organized 30 locals to protest the defunding at the Topanga post office.
Protestors lined up along Topanga Canyon Boulevard across from Pine Tree Circle for two hours in solidarity with the rest of the nation. According to McDermott, “it’s not how many people showed up, it’s how many post offices get involved.”
Julie Levine represented Topanga Peace Alliance (TPA) with other members showing their solidarity with the MoveOn organizers. The protest ended around 1 p.m.
TPA will continue to protest every Friday from 5–6 p.m. in front of the post office and invites other concerned residents to join them.
