SAVE THE DATE: On Sunday September 13 at 8 p.m., residents with FRS radios are urged to go to FRS Channel 15, where TCEP will conduct a listen-only test of the new Top-of-the-Hour Report transmitter. In the event of an emergency TCEP is activated and transmits a Top-of-the-Hour Report on FRS Channel 15. This listen-only report contains current emergency status information from the TCEP emergency status web page (tcep.org/emergencystatus). Recently, the transmitter for the Top-of-the-Hour Report was moved to a new location to provide better canyon-wide coverage. It was also changed to Channel 15 to be FCC compliant.   This listen-only test has a post-test survey to help TCEP verify the expected coverage. We request your assistance to verify the canyon-wide coverage of TCEP’s Top-of-the-Hour Report by both listening to the test, as well as completing the short one-minute survey. This will help us map the reception coverage in Topanga. The link to the survey is tcep.org/emergencystatus.   Please remember to turn off all tones, sub-codes, privacy channels, etc., on your FRS radios. Only people with privacy codes off will be able to hear the announcement. If your FRS radio channel is indicated as 15-1, you will not be able to hear the announcement with the privacy code enabled. Anticipating the possibility of a So. Cal. Edison Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in case of a fire or on Red Flag days, TCEP strongly requests that you listen to this test transmission and complete the survey afterward.
