With light pollution increasing by nearly 10 percent each year, it’s more than just our view of the stars that are being lost. Earlier this year, I met a group of local DarkSky Advocates in Taipei that was racing to protect a firefly colony from extinction. They took action, changing the lights in their local park and turning them off entirely during the breeding season.
