The last meeting featured Carolyn Day, whom many of us know locally from her recent children’s classes about organic gardening at the Topanga Community Center garden.

Drawing on her colorful background, including being a circus performer, acrobat, surfer, and stuntwoman, she explained her most poignant life experience as a young un-housed person that led her to her current project, Growing Hope Gardens, of growing thousands of pounds of food in urban planters around Los Angeles to feed hungry people. SAVE THE DATE! Please join us at our next meeting in the Sages Room on December 7, from 1-2:30 p.m., when local garden genius Delmar Lathers will be giving his insights into regenerative agriculture. Drawing on his generational and life experience, as well as the innovative concepts in the “Little Big Farm” model that he teaches students in the Farm Program at Manzanita School.

Also on tap will be Scott King and Company sharing their most recent experiences in local “rock-scaping” and water gardening.

Local architect and native plant expert Hannah Wear will once again share her vast knowledge and brilliance regarding how to care for healthy native plants and offer her curated native plants for sale after the presentation.
