RCDSMM Expands to Larger Quarters

RCDSMM Expands to Larger Quarters

For the last eight years, the Resource Conservation District (RCD) occupied a quaint building located on Topanga Canyon Blvd. “This space has served us well but once our number of permanent staff increased, we realized there was not enough space to allow for collaboration,” they wrote in a recent newsletter. “We came to the realization that our time in Topanga was coming to an end. Before arriving in Topanga, we occupied a building at Peter Strauss Ranch, which burned in the Woolsey Fire.” Over the past year, the RCD has been steadily growing capacity in both staff size and community service offerings. This can be attributed to our concerted efforts to add more permanent full-time staff as well as expanding our sphere of influence, which means our district boundaries now encompass many more communities throughout the valley and parts of northeastern Los Angeles. “While we may be moving out of Topanga, we will continue to preserve and enhance watersheds throughout the Santa Monica Mountains, including Topanga Creek, and will carry on oak stewardship projects at Trippet Ranch, among others soon to be announced. “We could not be more grateful to the community of Topanga for embracing us as locals when we first set up shop here and will surely miss this treasured space.” RCD’s new office is now located at 4505 Las Virgenes Road, Suite 215, Calabasas, CA 91302, where it will continue to welcome visitors, inquiries and volunteers. Consider also donating to RCD. RCDSMM’s Mission is to promote land stewardship and resource conservation through ecological research, conservation planning and design, habitat restoration and environmental education, while adhering to the highest standards of transparency and accountability as a public agency.
