Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the 2100 block of Old Topanga Canyon Rd., Topanga, on Saturday, Jan. 16. “We received the first call about 2:45 p.m. and the gunshot victim was transported to the hospital,� said Lt. Evans of the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station. “His friend is in custody.� Watch Commander Lt. Evans added that the conflict was an argument between friends that resulted in a non-fatal shooting. In a follow-up conversation with Watch Commander Lt. Carrillo, he said, “We can confirm there was one male victim that went to the hospital via L.A. County Fire helicopter.� Witnesses said the victim, a male, was transported via L.A. County Fire helicopter from Bonnell Park. During the incident, Old Canyon swarmed with Sheriffs’ vehicles while a helicopter circled overhead. “The suspect was detained around 4:45 p.m.� Lt. Evans said. “He came out on his own and there is no threat to the community.�
