The interplanetary interloper dubbed Comet NEOWISE has brightened surprisingly in the pre-dawn skies in the northwest. Officially designated Comet C/2020 F3, NEOWISE was first spotted on March 27 by astronomers using the Near-Earth Object Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (NEOWISE) space telescope. Because comets stream gas and dust in the solar wind as they approach the Sun, predicting their brightness can be tricky once they are first spotted.

NEOWISE Tight: and this one above the San Fernando Valley was shot with an ISO of 1000, f/2.8, 100mm telephoto lens 4:47 AM PDT July 12, 2020:

The attached was shot at 5:03 a.m. PDT on Saddle Peak on July 10th, 2020. Topanga Canyon is in the foreground and the San Gabriel Mountains are across the brightly lit San Fernando Valley. It was shot using an ISO of 1000 at f/2.0 with a 44mm lens. The exposure time is about a second.
