2019-2020 Fernwood Rain Report

2019-2020 Fernwood Rain Report

September 30th marks the end of our rain year for the 2019-2020 rain season. With a season total of 18.68 inches of rain, we just about hit our 24-year average of 19.24 inches of precipitation. That luscious reprieve was due to an extremely wet March and early April this year after an unusually dry January and February.
Looking ahead to the upcoming rain year, we find that we are in a weak La Niña condition that is forecast to persist through our wet season ahead. This condition suggests a chance of a drier-than-average 2020-2021 season ahead. We can only hope the rain will fall soon to wash the smoke from our skies and bring us greener mountains.

For a historic view, the second chart documents 24 years of rain in Fernwood Pacific.
