The goal of Fire Prevention Month 2023 (and the week of October 8-14) is to raise fire safety awareness and help protect homes and families. The National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) — the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week™ for more than 100 years —has announced “Cooking safety starts with YOU!” Did You Know? Installing reliable protection and being proactive is important to help keep your loved ones safe from a fire or carbon monoxide emergency Almost three of every five home fire deaths resulted from fires with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms (NFPA) Carbon monoxide is the number one cause of accidental poisoning in the U.S. (CDC) Unattended cooking is the number one cause of home fires (NFPA) A fire department responds to a fire every 23 seconds in America (NFPA) For more information: nfpa.org.
