Fragile Links Exhibit Opens at Topanga Canyon Gallery

In this exhibit, three artists explore the Fragile Links between ourselves and the people, places, animals, and environment of the world we share. It’s easy to forget how special and fragile our relationship with our world is. Every living thing borrows space on the earth and is transient. From the smallest microorganisms to the largest animals, all life on Earth has a common ancestor. Everything is connected to everything. Earth and our place in it is an incredibly complex and fragile network of interconnected systems that have developed slowly over the last 4.5 billion years. In our short tenancy here, we make a choice to nourish our relationships so that they sustain and enhance all that we are connected to or choose to disregard them to the detriment of whole. It’s a choice. It’s important to see, taste, and feel the wonder of our existence in order to make the right decisions.
Russell Hunziker’s love of the outdoors leads him to paint the solitude and beauty of the Santa Monica Mountains. hunz1234@mac.com; russellhunzikerart.com

Patrick Ramsey’s engaging and sensitive photography explores the personal relationships we have with each other. Sari Scheer explores the sustainability and fragile relationships among us and the environment by reusing discarded bottles to create delicate and engaging glass sculptures. Russell Hunziker’s landscape paintings ask us to look past the beautiful natural world that he depicts and see the underlying environmental damage that humans have caused.
