During a fire, illegal drones have often grounded or endangered firefighting aircraft.
The L. A. County Fire Dept. has now teamed up with the L.A. branch of the FBI to launch a drone deterrent program, which enables officials to quickly identify unauthorized drones and get them out of the sky.
The new system is capable of identifying and locating drones within 30 seconds of take off, employing sensors to set up a boundary around an emergency response zone.
Reportedly, they can obtain precise details about drones that enter the perimeter, including elevation, direction, speed, take-off point, as well as the current location of the controller. The information is transmitted to an intercept team who will contact the drone operator and have them stop flying the drone.
If the controller is “clueless or careless,” they may be issued a citation and a warning.
