I so appreciated JP Spence’s ode to rock and roll (“Taylor Hawkins Was There,� April 15, 2022), which was also a touching tribute to the Foo Fighters drummer who sadly passed away in March. Back in my intrepid days of being the photographer for the Topanga Messenger, I was “there�—really there—taking pictures right next to him at Topanga Days as he pounded out classic heavy metal hits with his cover band, Chevy Metal. He was clearly in his element doing what he loved. Thank you, Taylor. You will be sorely missed.
