The relaxing ambiance is where Topanga residents and others from surrounding areas can enjoy a delicious meal. I often eat lunch at 122 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., am well served by Pablo, Monique, Saul, and Sergio, and superb chefs Roberto or Jose. As a twelve-year customer, eating there lifts my spirits. Fresh organic produce is locally grown and meats come from Paso Robles, Omaha, Colorado, and Texas. Recently added is a wine bar (4-9 p.m.) with free corkage on Wednesdays from 4-9 p.m. Wines are from France and California wines from Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, and Topanga. There’s also beer from England. At night, the dinner menu expands to offer prime meats, pasta, and fish dishes and there are also weekend specials. Kudos for the Bistro’s excellent service and maintained quality during the beginning of the pandemic when a masked and gloved waiter delivered food to your car. Now there’s take-out and patio dining for lunch and dinner. Tables are spread out to maintain social distancing. The staff wears face shields and gloves and Cohn maintains high sanitary conditions. Never has the one inclusive gift to vote for the choice of government that people have worked hard to achieve, been so threatened by the color of one’s skin, by the village, county, and state you live in, and by those who are committed to enforcing never-ending prejudices. The decline began in 1993 when Newt Gingrich declared war—no more compromising, no more working across the aisle with Democrats. They are the enemy, setting up a perfect storm for the rise of 45 to decimate our government. Will democracy survive?
