Chabad of Topanga Launches ‘Acts of Goodness Campaign’ for Brethren in Israel

October 27, 2023 Topanga Shows Solidarity through Acts of Goodness and Kindness. Responding to the recent terror attack in Israel that saw more than 1,000 innocent Jews brutally murdered, Chabad of Topanga is spearheading an Acts of Goodness campaign. This initiative aims to combat hatred and violence with acts of goodness and kindness. “Topanga stands united with our brothers and sisters in Israel during this harrowing time,” says Rabbi Mendy Piekarski of Chabad of Topanga and organizer of the campaign. “We must remember that by illuminating our own corner of the world with acts of goodness and kindness, we can impact events on the other side of the world.” During past conflicts in the Land of Israel, when things seemed bleak, and during times of danger for the Jewish people, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, the most influential rabbi in modern history, made practical suggestions of mitzvahs–good deeds–to elicit Gd’s protection. Recommendations include coming together in unity for prayer, putting on tefillin, lighting Shabbat candles, putting a mezuzah on one’s doors, giving charity, doing acts of kindness, and studying the Torah. Chabad of Topanga calls upon community members to dedicate positive deeds in memory of those who perished and to increase in acts of goodness and kindness in the merit of the recovery of those injured, for the safe return of the hostages and complete safety and security in Israel. Additionally, the Israel Emergency Relief Fund has been established by Chabad-Lubavitch to provide critical support to those affected in Israel. Donations will assist in the humanitarian efforts being carried out by Chabad centers throughout Israel that serve in many places as shelters and crisis centers. “The positive resolutions we undertake must be proportionate to the evil of the terror attack,” adds Rabbi Mendy “Just as the hate and destruction was so immense, equally, the magnitude of the response to do positive deeds must be that massive.” For more information about this initiative, please reach out to RabbiMendyPiekarski@gmail.com

Here is a special prayer to say, that was composed by King David (in 1000 BCE):
(Psalms, Chapter 121)

“I shall raise my eyes to the mountains, from where will my help come?
My help is from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to falter; Your Guardian will not slumber.
Behold the Guardian of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your Guardian; the Lord is your shadow; [He is] by your right hand.
By day, the sun will not smite you, nor will the moon at night. The Lord will guard you from all evil; He will guard your soul.

The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from now and to eternity.”
